Key individual online services for December

Use the services in your Tax Professional Online Services account to do business with confidence and ease.

Use key services and features

  • Respond to a notice or bill online to provide information we requested or to protest a bill. This is the fastest way to provide an explanation and attach supporting documentation. For step-by-step instructions, watch our Respond to a Department Notice or Bill demos.
  • Pay a bill on behalf of your client through your Online Services account using our Make a Payment application. Clients can pay by credit or debit card, or by direct debit from a bank account.

Note: Your clients can also pay without accounts using our Quick Pay application, but they must pay by direct debit from their bank account.

  • Request an installment payment agreement (IPA). If accepted, your client must make monthly payments toward their unpaid tax balance.

Note: Your client must have a valid bank account within the U.S.

Create a Tax Professional account

If you don’t already have a Tax Professional account, create one today using one of the following:

  • your EFIN, or
  • your New York State attorney registration number, or
  • your New York State certified public accountant (CPA) license number.

Watch our Account Creation: Tax professionals demo for more information.

Add clients to your Tax Professional account

You can add clients to your account to immediately act on their behalf. To add a client, you will need:

  • your client’s signed E-ZRep Form TR-2000,
  • your client’s taxpayer identification number, and
  • one of the following from your client:
    • a filed New York State tax return, or
    • a bill (assessment), or
    • a five-digit PIN (provided by the Tax Department), or
    • confirmation that your client has not yet filed a New York State return.

Watch our Adding an Individual Client to a Tax Professional Account demo for a step-by-step demonstration of this process.

Encourage your clients to use direct deposit

Direct deposit is the easiest, fastest way for your client to get their personal income tax refund.

Clients who choose direct deposit:

  • get their refunds faster
  • reduce trips to the bank
  • have peace of mind—no lost or undeliverable checks
